ENG-L 373 INTERDIS APPRCH ENG & AMER LIT (3 CR) 30678 02:30P-05:00P TR BH 206 Gayk S 25 9 0 SPECIAL TOPIC: "On the Road: Pilgrimage and the Art of Travel Writing" This second eight week course surveys travel writing, focusing on the art and literature prompted by journeys on foot, examining writing by medieval pilgrims, romantic wanderers, and modern trekkers. We will explore the hows and the whys of pilgrimage and travel writing by reading about, discussing, and writing about the experiences of pilgrims and other early walkers. Students will have the option to also register for an additional one-credit course (ENG X395) that will take place immediately after the semester ends, during which they will travel to Europe to walk (and write about) the final 112km of the Camino de Santiago.
