Policy dictates many aspects of education in the United
States. However, we often do not know who is influencing
education policy decisions and how change occurs in
education. This course will provide an overview of how
political activities and education converge, the obvious and
not-so-obvious actors involved in making education decisions,
and the political and social movements that have changed K-12
and higher education policy over time

TOPIC : Student activism in Higher Education
Student activism in the United States and abroad has left an
undeniable mark on the course of history. How governments
and institutions engage with students has been shaped by
activists in the past and in the present day. However,
instances of activism and activists themselves, even those
which are contemporaneous, may be driven by different causes
and may have differing goals. This course will examine
student activism around the globe, allowing students to
better understand why students engage in activism and
demonstrate the results these individuals have gotten through
                 their actions

Student debt is one of the most serious social issues in the
United States. The amount of student debt has soared each
year, and more and more students are graduating with
substantial amounts of debt from their colleges. In response
to this issue, the U.S. federal government has made efforts
to financially support colleges student by implementing
financial aid policies. This course will explore the concept
of student debt, and its impact on students, higher
                 education, and society
